A history of assuring quality - from contraceptives to COVID-19 vaccines

December 02, 2021

As FHI 360 marks its 50th anniversary, explore our history of solutions and future of possibilities.

As COVID-19 spread around the world in early 2020, countries went into lockdown, workplaces and schools became virtual and the global economy was hit hard. And — as has occurred during previous pandemics — the global medical supply chain became more vulnerable.

Who ensures that medical products procured by donors such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) are effective, safe and high-quality? At FHI 360, it’s the Product Quality and Compliance (PQC) team.

“The pandemic has underscored the critical importance of quality-assured medical products,” said Chryste Best, a technical advisor with PQC. “PQC’s work helps to protect patients and end users, investments and gains in global health responses, and our clients’ reputations.”
