Establishing the Network of Associations for Harm Reduction

June 10, 2010

In 2010, FHI 360 in Egypt established the Network of Associations for Harm Reduction (NAHR), a coalition of stakeholders who share the common goal of reducing stigma, promoting behavior change and expanding the number of harm reduction services available to most-at-risk populations. NAHR represents all current harm reduction projects in Egypt and aims to unify, strengthen and sustain harm reduction and HIV prevention efforts across the country. NAHR will serve as a coordinating body for all harm reduction services in the country, creating linkages between harm reduction projects and comprehensive care centers, reviewing and updating existing approaches, providing high quality technical assistance to improve HIV outcomes, strengthening referral systems and standardizing the delivery of harm reduction services.
