Exposure to a slightly sweet lipid-based nutrient supplement during early life does not increase the preference for or consumption of sweet foods and beverages by 4-6-y-old Ghanaian preschool children: Follow-up of a randomized controlled trial
The study examined the long-term impact of early exposure to slightly sweet lipid-based nutrient supplement on the preference for sweet foods and beverages later in childhood. The data show that children exposed to lipid-based nutrient supplement did not have an increased preference for sweet foods and beverages. The authors suggest that more research is needed to examine whether this finding holds true in populations with a lower level of exposure to other sweet foods and beverages during infancy and preschool years.
