Scott Wu has spent more than three decades combining his strong finance and innovation skills with a passion for global philanthropic endeavors. As executive director of the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank (IBank), he leads a public finance institution committed to promoting a robust employment environment, contributing to a strong economy and improving the quality of life for the people of California.
Before his appointment to this position in 2019 by Gov. Gavin Newsom, Wu spent many years leading and advising teams focused on financing beneficial and innovative solutions to large-scale public sector issues. He was a partner and head of investments for the Omidyar Network, a global pioneer in impact investing. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the founding team at Upstart Holdings, an online lending marketplace, and a co-founder of several innovative investment firms, including FTV Capital.
In 2013 he was selected to serve as a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, spending two years advising the U.S. Agency for International Development on its innovation investing activities and organizations throughout the developing world.
Wu has a longstanding interest in issues addressing education and global poverty. He serves as a board advisor for the Dartmouth Center for Social Impact; is a director of Callisto, a platform for survivors of sexual assault; and was a director and chair of both the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants and the Aim High summer school network for disadvantaged students. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
