Roberto Matus, MBAManaging Director, FHI Partners
Roberto Matus brings more than 20 years of experience from across the U.S., Latin America, Middle East and Europe as director, manager or technical lead on initiatives at the nexus of business and development. He is responsible for transaction structuring, project oversight and portfolio growth.
Matus has spent the past 12 years designing, proposing, managing and implementing economic development programs centered on the principles of shared value, including long-term assignments in Afghanistan, Mongolia, Nicaragua and Jordan.
As an international economic growth specialist, Matus developed private sector solutions in various sectors (tourism, agribusiness, ICT) and across various thematic areas (value chains, market systems, workforce development, export development, competitiveness strategy). As project director for a sustainable tourism program, he led a team of ecosystem actors in market-driven programs to upgrade workforce, enterprise and destination competitiveness.
From 2002 to 2006, Matus served at the World Bank in the Corporate Strategy Department working on programs focused on innovative ideas in development.
In addition to private sector development, Matus brings hands-on private sector operational, marketing and partnership experience from his tenure building two venture-funded startups.
Matus holds a Master of Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish language and literature and a Bachelor of Science in international business from the University of Maryland.
