John E. Newstead, MScPartner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), McLean, VA
John E. Newstead has extensive international experience, having lived and worked on four continents for more than 30 years. As a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), he is an advisor to senior executives and board members of large multinational corporations and international organizations, as well as foreign diplomats and government ministers. In this position, he worked in southern Africa, where he established the first technology, internal audit and risk practice in Mozambique. Mr. Newstead’s previous positions include serving in the European Commission based in Brussels, where he led a range of financial reviews of the operations of member-state governments.
A leader in market, regional and national practices, Mr. Newstead has significant experience in regulatory compliance, government contracting, corporate strategy, technology and cybersecurity across multiple sectors. He led an IT Risk and Controls global forum of PwC peers who were responsible for building the firm’s drive for quality and growth. He also has extensive experience in providing both strategic and practical advice to major organizations to help them successfully prepare for attestation, acquisition, post-deal consolidation and initial public offerings.
Mr. Newstead earned a Master of Science in Audit and Management Consultancy from Birmingham City University in the United Kingdom. He is a chartered member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, a Certified Information Privacy Professional and a Certified Information Systems Auditor. He is also certified in risk and information systems controls, and he received his board director certification from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Mr. Newstead joined the FHI 360 Board of Directors in 2017.
