Holly Wise, MA, MPH

President, Wise Solutions, LLC, Arlington, VA

Holly Wise is an Associate Professor in the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service Global Human Development Program. She teaches graduate courses on policy and practice in global development, social enterprise, innovation and enterprise development, and she leads the Global Social Enterprise and Development Fellows Program. Through her consultancy practice, Wise Solutions LLC, Ms. Wise has provided expertise in international development, corporate social responsibility, public–private alliance and business development to corporations, foundations and nonprofits.

Ms. Wise is also a Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and a Senior Fellow at the Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability. She was previously a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Ms. Wise sits on the boards of WRAP, GlobalGiving, Living Goods, and Grassroots Business Partners. In addition, she is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Ms. Wise spent 26 years in the Foreign Service with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), achieving the diplomatic rank of Minister Counselor. She is the founder and first Secretariat Director of the Global Development Alliance, USAID’s business model that forges strategic alliances among public and private partners to address international development issues. Under her leadership, 300 alliances were formed with US$1.1 billion in USAID funding. Among her achievements are overseas tours in Barbados, China, Kenya, the Philippines and Uganda. In addition, Ms. Wise was USAID Chair at the National Defense University, where she taught political science and environmental courses, as well as published research on China.

Ms. Wise is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Connecticut College and holds advanced degrees from Yale University and the National Defense University.

Ms. Wise joined the FHI 360 Board of Directors in 2011 and chairs the Strategy and Social Performance Committee.
