Aron Betru, MBA, MAChief Strategic Officer and Chief Operating Officer, Trident, Washington, DC
Aron Betru brings extensive international development experience to the FHI 360 Board of Directors. He has pioneered new ways of leveraging guarantee-backed financing of public health commodities, mobilizing millions of dollars in commercial lending and trade financing for malaria and reproductive health. He assists FHI 360’s expansion into social impact investing and development of new mechanisms to support social enterprise.
At Trident, a private equity firm investing in small businesses that promote positive social outcomes for underserved communities, Betru is responsible for social impact initiatives, key strategic partnerships and fundraising. Prior to Trident, he was the Managing Director of the Milken Institute’s Center for Financial Markets and led strategic financing innovations for social good. Betru was the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Financing For Development, specializing in innovative financing solutions for international development. He has served in roles at the United Nations Foundation, TechnoServe and Dalberg Global Development Advisors, as well as private-sector companies McKinsey & Company and Goldman Sachs. Betru has contributed to American Banker, Milken Review and Global Health and Diplomacy. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Calvert Impact Capital and the FHI Foundation Board of Trustees.
Betru graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and international studies. He received a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University and a Master of Arts from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
Betru joined the Board of Directors in October 2019.
