FHI 360 programs help communities protect both their natural legacy and their local economy. We help governments, local organizations, communities and the private sector manage watersheds, forests, parks and other natural resources in ways that sustain the environment while meeting economic needs. FHI 360 implements sustainable fisheries programs that encourage all stakeholders to use responsible management and environmental stewardship practices. Our system-wide approach balances economic, environmental, governmental and social components essential to conserving biodiversity and improving livelihoods.
FHI 360 experts have managed regional mass communication programs on conservation as well as clean technology and climate change interventions to support national governments and civil society. FHI 360 experts also work closely with local communities and other stakeholder groups to build understanding of the different values and importance of natural resources to their everyday life and general well-being.
We have facilitated community efforts to sustain and safeguard their natural resources, including empowering and enabling civic groups and stakeholders to take leadership roles in addressing local natural resource challenges. By addressing individual behaviors and overcoming structural, economic or cultural barriers, communities are able to realize results that have a lasting, positive impact on both their natural resource base and livelihoods.
