Everyone benefits when teens and young people are involved in their communities. Communities gain the power of youthful energy and innovative ideas, and youth see themselves as partners in society, ready and prepared to contribute to the common good.
FHI 360's youth programs help young people have a voice in their communities. Our programs support grassroots youth-led initiatives and build the capacity of local youth-led civil society organizations to develop opportunities for youth. FHI 360 trains young people to organize themselves around issues of concern, including community infrastructure, transportation, employment generation, educational opportunities, health services and healthy lifestyles. Our programs are designed to build self-esteem and provide training in essential skills such as leadership, decision making, conflict mitigation, teamwork and the ability to work in diverse environments.
Youth and peacebuilding
Engaging youth in peacebuilding efforts helps them create a more peaceful future for themselves and their communities. FHI 360 programs train young people to prevent, reduce and transform conflict in their families, communities and countries.
FHI 360’s signature program in youth and peacebuilding is called Bridge Media. This program brings communities in conflict together to develop joint media content, harnessing the power of storytelling to improve understanding, communication and problem solving. Through these opportunities and experiences, youth can become powerful catalysts for peace.
