In Iraq, FHI 360’s programs have helped strengthen education systems and foster increased cultural awareness between the U.S. and Iraq. We have helped design and deliver programming to improve the English-language and pedagogical skills of teachers and have conducted workshops on best practices in teacher training methods. We have also facilitated summer exchange programs that brought undergraduate students from Iraq to the United States, during which students explored American democracy, rule of law and freedom of expression.
Today, FHI 360 continues to advance education in Iraq by building the professional skills of teachers, students and minority women. For minority women, we conduct trainings on business and digital literacy that improve their employability in the private sector and help them overcome traditional barriers to accessing educational and professional opportunities. We also continue to foster long-term partnerships between universities in Iraq and the United States by facilitating scholarly collaboration, curriculum reform and online course opportunities.
