DURHAM, N.C. — FHI 360 is pleased to welcome Geremie Sawadogo, PhD, and Penny Abeywardena to its board of directors.

And FHI 360 requires the expertise of individuals like Geremie and Penny, who are globally minded, to bolster our organization’s ability to create positive, lasting change around the world.”
With more than 30 years of professional experience in international education, global development and human resource management, Sawadogo was most recently the human resources manager for The World Bank Group, where he oversaw the Middle East and North Africa division as well as corporate units. He has also served as the district director of international and intercultural education at Maricopa Community Colleges and was the country director for the Peace Corps in Benin. He is an active board member of ChildFund International.
Abeywardena served as New York City’s commissioner for international affairs; for eight years, she led the city’s global platform to work toward its vision for a more just and accessible society. She is currently a leadership columnist at Forbes and serves on the board of the Center for Reproductive Rights. Her contributions have been recognized and celebrated by the United Nations, the World Economic Forum and the French American Foundation, among others. President Macron appointed Abeywardena to the rank of Knight in France’s National Order of Merit for her global leadership on diplomacy, human rights, and sustainability.
