Integrated Behavioral and Biological Assessment: Guidelines for Surveys of Populations at Risk of HIV Infection
Two rounds of integrated behavioral and biological assessment (IBBA) have played an important role in evaluating The India AIDS Initiative—Avahan—of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Government of India has strengthened second–generation surveillance at the national level using methods and tools developed by the IBBA team of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and FHI 360. This publication can be used by those who wish to carry out similar studies.

Supporting Research on Antiretroviral Therapy in India
As the coordinating and operations center for the National Institutes of Health-funded HIV Prevention Trials Network, FHI 360 is providing expertise in site assessment, study design, protocol development, and staff training for a study on the effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy in preventing transmission of HIV in couples in which only one partner is infected.
Expanding Contraceptive Options for Indian Couples
To expand the number of contraceptive options available to women and couples, we are studying the factors that lead women to adopt or reject Depo Provera, an injectable contraceptive, as a family planning method. We are also promoting Depo use among women who desire a long-acting method and for whom injectable contraceptives are safe and appropriate.
