Human research ethics rest on three basic principles: respect, beneficence, and justice. These principles are the foundation of all regulations or guidelines governing research ethics and transcend all geographic, cultural, economic, legal, and political boundaries.
Although these principles are universal, there are few tools available to help researchers learn about the development and philosophy of ethics or find out how ethical principals can be applied in a practical way.
FHI 360 has developed two curricula to help fill this need.
Research Ethics Training Curriculum, Second Edition
This edition updates our highly regarded curriculum--used by academic and nongovernmental institutions worldwide--on fundamental ethical considerations in the design and implementation of research involving human participants. It complies with the training requirements of major funders and national and international research organizations. The curriculum can be used either as an interactive self-study program or for participatory group training.
French, Spanish, and Portuguese versions of the first edition of the curriculum are also available.
Research Ethics Training Curriculum for Community Representatives
We designed this curriculum specifically to educate community representatives about their roles and responsibilities so that they have a stronger voice before, during, and after the research process.
