SEPTEMBER 2011—An FHI 360 psychosocial support program for children living with HIV or AIDS helps youth get valuable counseling, medical care and follow-up, opportunities to mingle with peers, and livestock to generate income for their households. With its engaged leadership and successes, it has become a model for addressing the needs of children affected by HIV or AIDS throughout Rwanda.

Boosting Nutrition and Economic Security of People Living with HIV
JULY 2011—Through training in Agricultural Organic Farming (AOF), FHI 360 is boosting the livelihoods of people living with HIV through improved nutritional and food security. AOF is a form of agricultural production that uses affordable, completely natural fertilizer and enables a wide variety of crops to grow in a relatively small space.

FHI Takes the Lead in HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment in Rwanda
FHI 360 Rwanda works with public and private health facilities, hospitals and health centers, nongovernmental and faith-based organizations, private sector partners, and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) and other associations to deliver quality clinic-based services, community-based care and support programs, prevention programs, and surveillance and research. In 2003, ours became the first country program in the world to provide antiretroviral treatment (ART) with USAID funds.

Expanding Contraceptive Use in Rwanda
JANUARY 2010 — FHI worked with the Rwandan Ministry of Health to conduct a community-based survey in five districts to clarify reasons for non-use of family planning, examine barriers to modern contraception, and explore psychosocial factors influencing modern contraceptive use.

Rwanda at Frontier of FP Service Delivery
JUNE 2010 — In partnership with the Rwanda Ministry of Health (MOH) and Jhpiego, FHI began fieldwork last month on a study to examine the feasibility of immediate postpartum intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) services in Rwanda. At the core of this study – which is being conducted through the USAID-funded PROGRESS Project – is an intervention to provide IUCDs to women within 48 hours of giving birth.

FHI Rwanda Annual Report 2010
JULY 2011 — This report synthesizes our work in Rwanda in 2010. It documents project inputs, program results and organizational performance. It also shares new ideas, raises critical questions and contributes to the body of knowledge on key issues in public health and development. Finally it gives us the opportunity to recognize our partners, who are critical to our success. While it focuses particularly on the district and local levels, in recognition of the importance of decentralization and local ownership, the annual report also highlights FHI 360's ongoing efforts in partnership with national institutions.

NOVEMBER 2009 — FHI Rwanda Deputy Director Dr Fabienne Shumbusho recently published information on a best practice for improving and scaling-up HIV care in that country. Appearing in Plos Medicine Journal, Dr Shumbusho has also presented conclusions at several global conferences.
