SEPTEMBER 2008 — FHI provided management and analytical support for a USAID sponsored study targeted at Jordanian workers in small businesses and qualitified industrial zones. The survey compared workers who had been involved in program interventions and those who had had no exposed to strategic behavior changes programs.

Taking a Risk to Help Women at Risk
JUNE 2008 — With USAID support, FHI/Jordan encouraged the Khawla Bint al Azwar Society to address a growing problem: impoverished married women, single mothers, and teenage girls were turning to commercial sex to earn money, and they had little or no awareness of the dangers of HIV and AIDS. This success story by USAID refers to the difficulties this respected, community-based organization faced in reaching out to sex workers and addressing a taboo subject and outlines what it is doing to make a difference and be part of the solution.

Toolkit Aims to Improve Voluntary Counseling and Testing

FEBRUARY 2008 — A voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) toolkit that aims to facilitate high-quality delivery has been produced by FHI/Jordan, in collaboration with USAID, FHI/Jordan, and the Ministry of Health. It contains practical advice on providing VCT, builds on existing resources, and pays attention to specific issues that are relevant in Jordan. Strategies for quality assurance are emphasized throughout.
