Material selection

The materials gathered provide guidance and information on various topics within program evaluation and come in a variety of formats. Some are text books, some are instructional guides, some are web-based, and some are research articles that provide insight into what has been studied by academic researchers. The majority of the materials presented in this inventory come from the field of HIV prevention and care. However, there are a number of excellent resources in related health arenas that have also been included in this document. Specifically, the reader will find a great deal of material that comes from the field of reproductive health and family planning. There is a great deal of overlap between all of these fields, and the fields of reproductive health and family planning have been working on evaluation issues for many years. Documents were selected for entry into this inventory if they offered a structured framework for setting up program evaluation, provided clear guidance on how to conduct some aspect of program evaluation, or were research that supported or explained an approach to conducting program evaluation.
